Hands together

Following a referral, people are placed on a waiting list for an initial appointment to discuss their treatment needs.  If the MMHS is not the most appropriate service, we will suggest other services which might be better placed to provide the support required.

The MMHS provides specialist psychological therapy, including individual and group work.

The Loss Group consists of six sessions aimed at providing a space to understand the grief process and work towards tolerating the difficult emotions associated with the loss.

Individual therapy consists of 8 – 12 sessions, which can be reviewed and extended if required.  The therapy models used include Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassioned Focused Therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

Before any therapy begins, the psychologist will work with the individual to ensure that they feel emotionally safe and able to explore their difficulties.
